The Maritime and Port Bureau (MPB) under the Ministry of Transportation and Communications was established on March 1st, 2012, and it has turned a new page in the history of Taiwan's maritime trade development. The MPB will go beyond simply further developing our port infrastructures to support the healthy growth and competitiveness of our shipping-related industries and dedicates to aggressively and purposefully giving full play to Taiwan's exceptional strengths in shipping.
In response to the rapid development of maritime sectors by other nations in the region, the MPB will leverage its authority as a government agency to establish practical and appropriately aggressive strategies that will help promote growth of Taiwan's maritime sector, maintain proper maritime procedures and safety, ensure the training of maritime industry personnel, and position Taiwan's international ports as even more complete and comprehensive maritime commerce platforms. Our ultimate objective is to enhance Taiwan's position in global shipping circle, the competitiveness of our nation's shipping-related industries, and Taiwan's reputation as a place to get shipping business done effectively and efficiently!
