MTNet was first launched more than 10 years ago in 2002. Due to the integration of numerous subsystems that can no longer be supported by current software, MTNet's performance has suffered and the portal has become difficult to maintain. The MPB is therefore re-designing the platform into a second generation single-window port services platform (MTNet 2.0), which will utilize new technologies and feature high information security standards. MTNet 2.0 will support mobile applications, cloud applications, and media promotion to provide users with more convenient services as well as higher service quality.
Planning for the second generation single-window port services platform is scheduled to be planned in 2015. The system itself approved on 28, Aug, 2017 and will be built between 2017 and 2021. Initial database integration operations, core system design specifications and requirements management operating system were completed in 2016. The operating system was gradually developed in 2017 and construction of application systems of the various stages will be completed in 2018 in order to provide maritime operators with a more convenient port information system. The construction of MTNet 2.0 will streamline business processes, provide a higher level of information security, offer mobile and audiovisual applications for cell phones and tablets, and facilitate information sharing and exchanges with other government agencies. MTNet 2.0 will achieve secure cloud-based integration and data management to provide basic data for big data analysis in the future, which is expected to strengthen marine policy analysis and support decision making.
