Pitou Chiao Lighthouse was built in 1897 at Bitoujiao, New Taipei City. The original Japanese built hexagonal iron tower was severely damaged in WWII. It was rebuilt in 1971 as a white concrete round tower. The site features dramatic coastal erosion and unique geological landscapes, though access is currently restricted for safety reasons, the lighthouse is not open to the public either.
