Completed in 1982, Taichung Kan Lighthouse is built atop a warehouse at Wharf No. 1 in Taichung port, making it the tallest and only rooftop lighthouse in Taiwan. It replaced the nearby Kaomei Lighthouse, whose lantern was transferred here due to overlapping light ranges with Fong-Yuan Lighthouse.
