The Yuweng Tao Lighthouse is located at the southwestern of Yuwengdao in Penghu County. The former lighthouse was built in 1778, constructed as a seven-tiered stone tower.
The present Yuweng Tao Lighthouse was constructed by the Customs in 1875 as a modern-style, circular cast iron tower, and was equipped with three cast-iron fog cannons. In 1915, the lighthouse, along with its office building, fog cannons, foghorn, exhibition room, stele, perimeter wall, lighthouse keeper’s residence, and observation tower, were all painted white—creating a striking contrast against the backdrop of the blue sea and lush green meadows.
The lighthouse has been designated as a national heritage site, and opened to the public in 1992.| Lat. N(WGS84): | 23° 33' 45.2" |
