Chilai Pi Lighthouse, built in 1931 at the northern tip of Hualien Port, was destroyed by U.S. bombing during WWII. It was rebuilt in 1963 as the only only pentagonal concrete lighthouse in Taiwan,and uniquely features a land god temple within its grounds.
