Chimei Yu Lighthouse, also called Nanhu Lighthouse, was built in 1939 on a cliff at the southern tip of Chimei Island in Penghu. It was the last lighthouse built in Taiwan by the Japanese and marks the confluence of the Bashi Channel and Bohai warm currents—an area rich in fishery resources.
