Constructed in 1871, Tungting Tao Lighthouse stands on a hilltop on Tungting Island in Kinmen. As the first Western-style black lighthouse in the area, it was designed by British engineer David Marr Henderson. It marks the key maritime route between Xiamen and Kinmen, serving as both landmark and tourist site.
