IMO海洋環境保護委員會第82屆會議於2024年9月30日至10月4日召開會議，本屆會議重點如下：

一、 進一步完善法律框架(IMO淨零框架)，其中包括候選中期措施，並安排2025年2月召開另一次休會期間溫室氣體工作小組(Intersessional GHG Working Group)會議；
二、 檢討短期溫室氣體減量措施；
三、 基於碳強度指標(Carbon Intensity Indicator, CII)準則審議船舶能源效率議題；
四、 減少船舶產生海洋塑膠垃圾的行動；
五、 批准BWM.2/Circ.80/Rev.1有關2024年壓艙水記錄保存和報告指南修正案；
六、 通過MARPOL公約修正案(MEPC.392(82)號決議)，以實施加拿大北極和挪威海硫氧化物(SOx)、氮氧化物(NOx)和懸浮微粒(particulate matter, PM)排放控制區(Emission Control Areas, ECAs)，預計於2026年3月1日生效。
七、 批准HKSRC.2/Circ.1，有關實施《香港公約》和《巴塞爾公約》有關擬進行拆除之船舶跨境移動之臨時指南。
八、 通過MEPC.396(82)號決議指定龍目島海峽珀尼達群島和吉利馬特拉群島為特別敏感海域(Particularly Sensitive Sea Area, PSSA)。
